Timely Discussion on Gun Violence at the latest LDTC Monthly Meeting

At the LDTC’s November meeting, held on November 13th, we heard from two remarkable activists who are leaders in the area on this very important topic. The speakers were:

  • Robin Neipp, from Moms Demand Action.  A native of New Jersey, Robin was one of 6 children born into a working class family.  Moving to  Massachusetts to attend college, Robin earned an Associates Degree from Greenfield Community College that enabled her to become a nurse, a job that she loved.  Robin’s son and husband are both licensed gun owners, and she firmly believes that it’s possible for our country to achieve common sense gun laws.

  • Sarah Reyes, a student activist and community organizer in the Greater Springfield area and Pioneer Valley.  She is the founder and co-director of Youth for Action, a student-led group dedicated to violence prevention and uplifting the community as well as the co-founder and co-coordinator of the Springfield hub of the Sunrise Movement for Climate Justice.  In addition, Sarah works on environmental justice issues as an intern at Arise for Social Justice.  She is currently a senior at Longmeadow High School.
