Ballot Question 2 - Ranked Choice Voting
One of the items on Thursday’s LDTC meeting agenda is a review of the two ballot questions; here’s some background information from Jesse Mermell, candidate for the Massachusetts 4th Congressional District, regarding Question 2 that you may find helpful.
“Ranked choice voting...better reflects the aggregate will of the voting population and ensures that no candidate is elected without a true majority of support from their constituents."
- Massachusetts Democratic Party Platform
I am proud of the campaign I ran for Congress this year. But I don’t think anyone in MA-04, including the 10 candidates and eventual winner, thinks our current system is ensuring that voters feel heard. It’s an issue our field agreed on out on the (virtual) campaign trail.
That’s why I’m proud to be voting YES on 2 to implement Ranked Choice Voting in Massachusetts. Under Ranked Choice Voting, the winning candidate can be confident that their win reflects the will of the majority of voters.
I’m not alone, click HERE to see Senator Elizabeth Warren and Attorney General Maura Healey talk about endorsing the question. Or click HERE to see just how many endorsers we have statewide.
It’s a commonsense reform, but we have dark-money opposition and a misleading Koch-funded so called “study” mudding the water.
Sincerely,
Jesse Mermell
